Region: Marlborough – Awatere Valley
Tasting Notes: Freshly chopped summer herbs, ripe stonefruit and passionfruit aromas together with a hint of pineapple and attractive mineral tones. The palate is concentrated, with ripe tropical fruit characters with lovely fresh acidity and a fleshy mid-palate. Noticeable texture and weight with a strong chalky, mineral element that is typical of the fruit from this Awatere Valley vineyard. The finish is clean and dry.
Winemaker's Notes: The other 10% was fermented with wild yeast from the vineyard in old French barriques to provide additional complexity. The wine was then held on yeast lees for three months before bottling.
Cellaring: Cellar for up to five years.
Food Match: Goat cheese, feta, asparagus, capsicum, shellfish, whitebait and other seafood, a Greek salad, fresh herbs, or any dish with tomato, fennel, rocket, capers and pesto.
